Meet Brenda

Brenda Maribel Betancourt knows the power of hard work and dedication. Born in La Ceiba, Honduras, she immigrated legally to Miami in 1994 through her father’s residency petition. Since then, she has dedicated herself to serving the community.

She attended Miami High, obtained her cosmetology license, and later studied Administration at Miami Dade College. With a background in accounting, she expanded her expertise in the U.S. to better serve others.

For over 18 years, Brenda has been a champion for small businesses and community revitalization. She has worked with the City of Miami, City of Opa-Locka, and Miami-Dade County, driving initiatives that improve quality of life. Her public service includes 10 years on the Miami-Dade County CAA and Women’s Boards and ongoing representation of Commissioner Keon Hardemon on the International Trade Committee, participating in global trade missions. She also served for over 10 years on Miami’s Code Enforcement and Nuisance Abatement Boards to improve public safety.

A dedicated volunteer, Brenda has served at San Juan Bosco Church since 1994 and supported veterans at the VA Hospital since 2010. She is also an active member of multiple civic and professional organizations, including:

Brenda is a devoted wife to Miguel Soliman and a proud mother to Denzel and Tifany. Now, as a candidate for City of Miami Commissioner, District 3, she is ready to bring bold solutions, smart growth, and a government that truly serves its people.
